Japan Day 3 - Disney Sea

Getting up on this day was a bit rough and made for a slow going morning. I know alarms went off at 8 and 830 but we definitely did not get out of bed then (although I think we wanted to be on our way by then, or at least that was the plan). I slowly got up and sat outside for while with Renq, a girl from Germany. While sitting outside, the British lads from the first night were getting back from breakfast so more chatting and hanging out ensued which also led to drawn out farewells as they were leaving to go to a different part of Japan that morning. I don't think we left the hostel until maybe 10am, but I'm not really sure. The subway was less packed though, so getting there was a bit more enjoyable.

Disney Sea was incredibly beautiful. I've heard that it is the top ranked Disney park in the world, but don't quote me on that. We took the Disney tram to get to the park which was very cute.

They are celebrating 30 years this year!

This park was also Halloween themed but they did a much better job here and the decorations were much more tasteful, classy and pretty.

We immediately got a Fast Pass for "The Journey to the Centre of the Earth" ride as this was recommended to us the nigh before from someone who was sitting close by during the light parade. The ride did not disappoint, it was probably my favourite one there ... that or Indiana Jones, I can't decide. I felt like this part was mostly dedicated to The Little Mermaid, and naturally we spent a lot of time in that one area.

From the inside - so magical!!

We also watched one the Little Mermaid shows. Unfortunately you were allowed to take pictures inside, although I did sneak the one below. The actress who was Ariel was suspended in the air by cords and was able to float and swim in the 'sea' above us. It was basically a quick rendition of the movie and quite enjoyable.

Afterwards, we went to Ariel's Grotto and met her!!! I feel like this will be the only time I will ever be 'star struck' - I was so excited to meet her but had no idea what to say. Good thing she did all of the talking and kept in character very well. This park was also not as busy as the other one, I think we waited barely a half hour to meet her which was amazing.

My least favourite ride was Sinbad's Storybook Voyage - which much like Pirates of the Caribbean, I nodded off during! Here are some pictures of the park:

The picture below was taken on the Aladdin Flying Carpet ride, which is why it is crooked.

One thing that was cool about this park was that they did water shows instead of parades. It reminded me a bit of the water shows they do in Vegas at the Bellagio - except this one had huge floats and Disney characters along with the water show. The unfortunate thing though was that the viewing space was limited and not very good. I much prefer sitting along the parade path and getting to see everything up close!

Unfortunately they cancelled the fireworks due to weather conditions - which who knows what that means because it was a gorgeous day and the weather was fine at night too. But we did hear that the fireworks at Disney Sea are better than at Tokyo Disneyland so that's too bad, it did make me somewhat glad that we stayed for them the night before. We did have a Fast Pass for Indiana Jones for 9:30pm or something ridiculous like that so since there weren't fireworks, we decided to do one last ride - and I'm so glad we did that one! It was really cool and realistic to the point where I actually ducked a few times. Here is a picture of us they took while on the ride as a huge boulder was going to land on our heads. Going on this ride was a perfect way to end the day.

Other random shots include me with a camel and cool signs they had around the park that I loved:

We also went on Storm Rider which was a really cool ride - basically a storm simulator where our chairs moved and we got rained on etc. I feel like it was realistic, though that's not tried and tested, but I feel like I'd be mentally prepared if I were ever in a crash landing storm situation. Raging Spirits was also fun, basically a fast rollercoaster with a 360 loop. I coaxed into going on it even though she was terrified and had never been on a coaster that did a 360. I really enjoyed it myself.

Overall I really liked this park but found that there was less rides, and most of the rides were geared to younger kids. As well, I felt it was more of a shop and eat/ aesthetic park as there were so so so many places to eat and shop and a lot of beautiful 'buildings' to see. It is an original park though, and you cannot go to Disney Sea anywhere else, so it was neat to be able to experience it.

That night, like the others, I stayed up until probably 4/5am hanging out with the other hostellers - definitely good company and great people! We didn't have a solid plan for the next day but it was our last full day in Japan!
